UPS for Data Center

What is UPS?

The full name of UPS is Uninterruptible Power Supply. It is a type of hardware device. Modern static UPS developed from the 1960s onward, which Provides stable, continuous power to loads when mains power fails or fluctuates. UPS is widely used in hospitals, school, telecommunications, industrial new energy and so on.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is an electrical device that contains an energy-storage unit (usually a lead-acid or lithium battery) plus power-conversion circuitry, designed to keep supplying clean, uninterrupted power to a load when the mains supply fails, sags, surges, or carries noise.

How does a UPS works?

  • When mains power is normal, the UPS rectifies AC to DC to charge its battery while passing regulated AC to the load.
  • When mains fails or goes out of tolerance, the battery’s DC is instantly inverted back to AC (e.g., 220 V / 50 Hz) so the load keeps running.
  • Most UPS units also filter surges, voltage spikes, frequency drift, and electrical noise
